HARMONY

This project is very special. It was my first project in the Ousadia Competition within the Mack Concrete League. It showed me that Architecture is completely linked to Civil Engineering, that they are professions that go hand in hand and support each other.

This project helped me develop as a future architect and allowed me to interact with other members, like colleagues in a design office. This design process brought me many friends and the certainty that I like the area of urban infrastructure, especially that linked to mobility.

The objective of this project was to resolve a two-way intersection, Elmo Serejo Avenue and Samambaia Avenue, important roads that connect satellite neighborhoods of Brasília.

The idea was to propose a viaduct for Elmo Serejo Av. and a lowering of Samambaia Av. that would avoid congestion on these two expressways and provide a square at ground level to invite the population to visit open spaces.

This square was created based on a needs plan that would integrate society and especially students from the University of Brasília, from the Ceilândia campus, a factor that was not taken into consideration when building the city:

  • wooden deck;

  • a cycle path;

  • grandstand below one of the viaducts for projections and presentations;

  • a lowered agora;

  • a skate park and;

  • an open area for street market events that would be organized by residents.
